The Knox County Career Center Public Safety Program provides the following training courses: EMT-Basic and Refresher, EMT Intermediate, and Paramedic Refresher.

A prerequisites for all classes is a current CPR card. The career center is proud to offer American Heart CPR for the health care provider courses. Check the catalog for upcoming dates.

EMT-Basic: This course is 130 hours classroom with 10 hours clinical time.

This course will challenge you mentally. It will require you to solve problems and  anticipate your next step based upon assessment, and findings.  You will be required to complete 6 hours in a pre-hospital setting, and 4 hours in the hospital to assist in attaining this ability.

Tuition is only $1110. This is an all inclusive cost.  There are no hidden fees.  This fee includes: application fees, pre-entrance assessment, tuition, books, online quizzes, online resources, CPR face mask, KCCC uniform shirt, lab fees, pen light, stethoscope and access to very knowledgable instructors with years of real life experience.

Class start date is January 20, 2012. Application deadline is January 4, 2012. Classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1800 - 2200 hours at KCCC.

 

Advanced EMT - This 140 hour course is fast-paced and will take you to the next level of training. Ohio EMT is a prerequisite along with a current CPR card.

Tuition is only $1250. This is an all inclusive cost.  There are no hidden fees.  This fee includes: application fees, pre-entrance assessment, tuition, books, online quizzes, online resources, KCCC uniform shirt, lab fees, and access to very knowledgable instructors with years of real life experience.

Class start date will be Fall 2012.

 

EMT-Basic refresher - This course meets the state requirements for the 30 hour refresher course. Minimum powerpoint and skills based teaching highlight this course. You will learn the latest techniques in EMS, and EMT training.

Tuition is $200

Class starting January 10.

 

Paramedic Refresher - This meets the state requirements needed for your 48 hour refresher course. It is aimed toward the "working" paramedic. With minimum powerpoint, and more hands-on you will refresh your skills needed to be more efficient at your job while learning the newest standards and techniques.

Tuition is $300.

Next class starting February 16.

All individuals registering for the Public Safety Training Program(s) will be required to complete an application and assessment for a fee of $50 (included in the program fees as noted).  Once the application and assessment have been completed they are good for one entire calander year.
