Mary McCabe MPH, LMT. Mary is one of the founding faculty members of the KCCC’s massage therapy program (founded in 1999). Mary’s undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Science (U of MN) lead her to become a sign language interpreter. The skills of making language visible and clear have been valuable in much of her future work. Mary first became a Licensed Massage Therapist in California in 1985 her focus was the traditional Japanese Amma massage. After practicing on-site work and full-body massage Mary moved to Japan and taught English as a Second language. Upon returning to the states Mary obtained a Master’s in Public Health and began pursuing a PhD in Health Education (U of UT). For much of her life Mary has been in the classroom: as a student, as a sign language interpreter, or as a teacher. She utilizes her skills as a sign language interpreter to create “signs” that really facilitate student learning – which is exemplified in the outstanding passage rate for KCCC’s graduates (95%). Robin Strong, LMT. Robin graduated in 2005 from the Massage Therapy Program at KCCC. She received her State license as a Massage Therapist in January of 2006. She started her practice in a Medical Doctors office as a Massage Therapist and Office Manager. In September of 2006 an opening became available in a Chiropractors office she moved her practice there until September of 2008. Presently she works in a Massage office in Mount Vernon Ohio and has since September of 2008. All together she has been self employed as a Massage therapist since receiving her license. Currently she is the Limited Branch Instructor at the KCCC for the Massage Program. Amber Hedrick, LMT. Amber graduated from the Knox County Career Center in 2005 and was licensed in Massage Therapy in January of 2006. She was certified in Trigger Point and Myofascial Release in 2006 through Earle Timberlake Massage Therapies. She worked in a medical office both as a Massage Therapist and as an office assistant until October of 2006 and then went to work at Colonial City Internal Medicine in Mount Vernon as a Massage Therapist until June of 2009. She is currently employed at Knox County Career Center School of Massage Therapy as a Program Assistant and is self-employed in her home doing Massage. |
